Swire Shipping has signed up as a partner in the Coastal Zones Under Intensifying Human Activities and Changing Climate Programme (Coastal-SOS Programme): a regional programme integrating science, management, and society to support ocean sustainability - a core value for Swire Shipping. The partnership is led by the State Key Laboratory of Marine Environmental Science at Xiamen University and was established in response to the call for action under the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030). The programme was launched on 26th November last year, during the UN Ocean Decade Kickoff Conference for the Western Pacific and its Adjacent Areas, when Swire Shipping’s GM for Sustainable Development, Simon Bennett, gave a presentation on industrial perspectives on Coastal-SOS. The company will assist the project with data collection from its ships. The Coastal-SOS programme is also supported by the Swire Group Charitable Trust.
