Cathay Pacific's eighth I Can Fly community programme ran from March to August 2019. One hundred and eighty local secondary school students took part in training for ground and flight operations, went on educational tours of aviation facilities, and worked on community projects. In addition to encouraging youngsters to consider careers in the aviation sector, the project also engages them in social issues, such as combating plastic pollution, tackling food waste and supporting ethnic minorities living in Hong Kong. Another highlight of the programme was a summer trip to Flight Training Adelaide in Australia. Thirty outstanding students joined the trip and met some of the airline's cadet pilots, as well as getting the chance to fly a light aircraft. Launched in 2003, I Can Fly is supported by multiple departments across the airline business and is designed to nurture an enthusiasm for aviation amongst young people.
