In May, Cathay Pacific held a graduation ceremony for its latest batch of cadet pilots. The 34 graduates of the airline’s Cadet Pilot Training Programme were the first intake to receive their ground theory training in-house at Cathay Academy; they have since joined the airline as Second Officers and commenced flying duties.

The programme also sees cadet pilots undertaking flight training at AeroGuard Flight Training Center in Arizona, US, or Flight Training Adelaide in Australia, followed by multi-crew flight simulator training at Cathay Academy; currently there are 500 cadets in training as part of the programme, and Cathay aims to recruit more than 130 new cadets this year.

The expansion of its in-house training capability demonstrates the airline’s commitment to developing future generations of aviation talent locally.
