HAECO is working with the Logistics and Supply Chain MultiTech R&D Centre (“LSCM”) to develop Autonomous Mobile Robot (“AMR”) solutions that will boost productivity and efficiency by optimising the movement of materials within HAECO’s extensive aircraft maintenance facilities in Hong Kong. By enabling overnight delivery of aircraft tools and parts to maintenance bays, the technology will streamline operations and expedite turnaround times for maintenance work. LSCM’s AMR can transport materials of varying shapes and sizes, while Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping technology enables them to navigate autonomously through complex hangar environments, manoeuvring smoothly across uneven surfaces and in tight spaces. Field trials of the system are set to commence in the fourth quarter of this year.
