Over 520 enthusiastic runners turned up at the starting line of the highly-anticipated yearly competition.
The third annual Swire Intra-group Running Competition was held on 8th October at the picturesque Pak Shek Kok Promenade at the Hong Kong Science & Technology Parks. The weather was warm and humid but did little to deter the contestants' spirits and the Promenade was busy from early morning, as eager runners and supporters prepared for their races. The lively atmosphere continued until long after the last race, as tired but elated participants gathered to take photos and enjoy ice-lollies, whilst waiting for the results of the races and lucky draw.
Winners of this year's 10km Individual categories included Jinko Takeshige of Cathay Pacific, who took the Ladies' Master title, whilst Chung Hin-Fan of the Trading & Industrial Division took the crown in the Ladies' Open category. In the Men's division, William Davies of Swire Beverages came first in the Men's Master category and David Li from Cathay Pacific won the Men's Open category. In the 10km Corporate Team event, Cathay Pacific's two-year reign as champions ended when Swire Beverages took the title after a hard-fought victory. The airline continued to dominate in the 3 x 1km event, coming first in the Ladies' and Mixed categories, while Swire Beverages topped both the Men's and Senior Executives categories.
Crowds of supporters cheered on the Swire athletes.
