Richard Kendall, HAECO Group’s Chief Commercial Officer, attended the Remembrance Day service in Hong Kong on 14th November, on behalf of the Swire group. The ceremony commemorates those who lost their lives in defence of freedom in two world wars and various conflicts since. This year, due to COVID-19 restrictions, only senior government representatives and members of the consular corps were able to lay their wreaths in person at the base of the Cenotaph in Statue Square. Richard, however, was able to identify the Swire wreath at the base of the Cenotaph following the ceremony. He noted that: “This year’s event was particularly poignant, as it marked the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Hong Kong. Remembrance Sunday is also associated with charity fundraising by the sale of poppies, the proceeds from which are used to support service veterans and their families in Hong Kong.”
