Swire Shipping recently launched a new programme in Fiji, “Madigi Vou”, meaning “New Voyage” or “New Path”, in partnership with Fiji National University (FNU) and the FNU Foundation. Through the new programme, the company has committed to awarding four scholarships to students pursuing maritime studies at FNU’s Pacific Centre for Maritime Studies, and offering eligible scholarship recipients an opportunity to join its vessels as cadets.

As a company with a strong presence and deep legacy in the South Pacific, Swire Shipping is committed to supporting communities through investing in education and enabling sustainable development. This investment reinforces its long-term commitment to help strengthen Fiji’s maritime workforce by training and mentoring aspiring seafarers who will go on to navigate the vessels that keep the Pacific connected.
