Thirty students from Hong Kong embark on an immersive study tour to Urumqi and Xi’an in the Chinese Mainland.

In April, Cathay celebrated the second edition of the “Cathay Young Explorers Programme”. Supported by the Hong Kong SAR Government’s Education Bureau, and jointly launched by Cathay and the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation, the programme is a flagship initiative under the Cathay Aviation Dream Youth Development Fund.

Following its successful launch in Xinjiang and Sichuan in 2025, this year’s programme, themed “Youth in Motion: Discovering the Silk Road”, saw 30 students from Hong Kong embark on an immersive study tour through Urumqi, Yining and Xi’an. The participants explored the rich culture of the Silk Road – an historic link between East and West – while gaining valuable insights into the development of the civil aviation industry in the Chinese Mainland.
