The Swire Trust’s “Building Community, Building Tung Chung” programme recently marked the conclusion of its third phase with a lively community event. More than 800 residents from the North Lantau town came together to celebrate in a festive and welcoming atmosphere. Since the programme was launched in 2020, it has benefitted more than 200,000 people in Tung Chung. Its design has continuously evolved to meet the changing needs of the community, starting as a direct response to the pandemic, then shifting towards building local trust and focusing on individual empowerment for the benefit of the wider area. By uniting multiple NGO partners, community stakeholders and Swire’s operating companies, a comprehensive support network has been built, which extends the programme’s reach and ensures help is accessible to the diverse communities across Tung Chung. Swire Trust remains dedicated to strengthening local ties, building trust among stakeholders and fostering a resilient environment in the years to come.
