Swire Shipping recently welcomed its first sponsored cadet under Singapore’s Tripartite Maritime Training Award programme (TMTA). The TMTA programme brings together the union, government and industry in a tripartite partnership to strengthen the local maritime workforce.

As part of its sponsorship, Swire Shipping has committed to providing comprehensive onboard training, guided mentorship from its senior officers and hands-on experience across its fleet. These opportunities will help build the technical skills, safety awareness, seamanship fundamentals and leadership capabilities needed to succeed on today’s increasingly advanced vessels. With this step, Swire Shipping reaffirms its dedication to nurturing skilled talent in Singapore’s maritime sector and paving clear pathways for aspiring individuals to grow, develop and build meaningful careers in international shipping.
