In January, Swire Properties became the first real estate company in Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland to have its Near-Term, Long-Term and Net-Zero targets validated under the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) Buildings Criteria. The new targets cover the whole-building in-use operational emissions, as well as upfront embodied emissions, for 2034. They are also supported by a commitment to install no new fossil-fuel equipment across Swire Properties’ building portfolio. This decision reflects the company’s whole-building lifecycle approach to asset development and management, and reinforces its participation in both the Business Ambition for 1.5°C and the UNFCCC Race to Zero campaign. Looking ahead, the company will continue advancing its Net-Zero roadmap by taking bold, practical steps to accelerate the low-carbon transition of the industry.
