To mark World Environment Day 2026, in June, 34 colleagues from Finlays Mombasa came together to plant 1,550 mangrove seedlings at Mkupe on Kenya's coast.

This initiative forms part of the team’s broader sustainability commitment: reducing environmental impact, protecting ecosystems, and supporting the communities and environments where they operate.

Mangroves are among the world's most effective natural carbon sinks, capable of storing carbon at rates significantly higher than other forest ecosystems. They also help stabilise shorelines, protect coastal communities from erosion, support marine biodiversity and improve water quality.

Colleagues across functions worked with local conservation partners, united by the shared goal of creating lasting positive impact. And the partnership does not end with World Environment Day; the Finlays Mombasa team has committed to follow-up visits and replanting activities to ensure the seedlings planted at Mkupe deliver benefits for decades to come.
