The Swire Trust recently lent its support to the 15th National Marine Knowledge Competition, bringing one of the Chinese Mainland's leading marine science education initiatives to Hong Kong for the very first time. Under the theme "Protecting the Blue, Strengthening the Nation through Maritime Power", the competition drew participation from nearly 200 universities and more than 100,000 people nationwide.

The competition concluded with its final round in Fuzhou in June and marked a key milestone this year with the inclusion of a university team from Hong Kong.

As the sole corporate sponsor of the Hong Kong contest, the Swire Trust demonstrated its commitment to marine conservation and education. Beyond funding, the Trust also contributed by bringing in the expertise of the Hong Kong Marine Protection Alliance.

The Hong Kong qualifier attracted more than 400 students from 20 tertiary institutions, reflecting strong interest in the field among the city's young residents. Participants deepened their understanding of marine issues, exchanged ideas with peers and explored ways to advance conservation and research.
